TAILORING

Tailoring_Rosenthal.jpg

Tailoring experimented with how much the digital eye and hand of the 3D scanner and printer could pick up qualities of textiles. First a textile vase was hand stitched. It was then 3D scanned, 3D printed, and slip cast into porcelain.

The exhibition reveals the multiple dialogues involved in the process of making: between maker and textile vase, textile vase and digital producer, digital producer and polymer vase, polymer vase and maker, and polymer vase and porcelain.

The Future is Here, RMIT Design Hub gallery, 2014 (touring exhibition from Design Museum, London)

Material: textile, 3D printed polymer
